Self-hypnosis

We define hypnosis as a focused and well-defined state of attention. Rapid eye movements often appear with hypnotized persons (rapid eye movements; REM), indicating that we are hypnotized. They happen when we are in a a state of dreaming , and are comparable with the REM-activity that occurs by night.

The personality is often an outcome of the dynamical coherance between behavior, intentions and feelings. Even if the environment is not the personality, it is quite evident that the surroundings play an important part for our state of mind. We have all experienced to be joyful and pleased in one situation - and then maybe a few minuttes later –to be sad and unhappy, if say we have met people who are just criticizing. The event is consequently the total of the interaction, and this entirety is more than just any of the parts. To succeed with changing, one has to apply methods that unite the entirety. When so many factors affect our mind, it is not remarkable we find it difficult to map our inner scenery. Selfhypnosis is a method that makes it possible to elucidate this field. Selfhypnosis will for many people be an active way in everyday life to fortify this effective and profitable work. This will enable them to undertake the necessary responsibility for the treatment.

Hypnosis means sleep in Greek. Unlike regarding hypnosis as an apathetic state, experience and empirical research proves it it is an active process that requires highly awakeness and concentration. The advantage of the method depends on the individuals talent, activity and energy. Along with the active creative work, and while the individual contributes to find new satisfying solutions, the hypnotist can allways be a good helper and collaborating partner.

Selfhypnosis differs from hypnosis implying that the the hypnotic state is caused by the person himself, not by a hypnotist. The hypnotic trance differs from other conscious states like sleep, awaken state, daydreams or conditions caused by intoxication with alcohol and narcotics. The hypnotic state can develop when we are relaxed as well as in full activity.

In spite of various definitions on the phenomenon hypnosis, it is in any case possible to describe what most people experience in a hypnotic state. Perhaps the most important thing is a feeling of comfort, peace and relaxation. As a paradox, however, contrary to popular misunderstandings of what hypnosis is , the hypnotic state gives a feeling of control. Hypnosis is first and foremost a state where one meets with a chance of being able to choose
between mindful, emotional and behavioral experiences of phenomenons one usually has no access to. Most people experience a heavy body. The heavyness in connection with the feeling of relaxation is extremely pleasant in most cases. A few people sense a feeling of lightness in the body, a liquid or floating feeling also positive and agreeable. In addition one can also during hypnosis have access to memories and phantasies usually not admitted.
Implying for example memories from childhood one can live through in a distinct vivid and concrete manner. A second customary phenomenon is that the impression of time is altered in the hypnotic state.

We people have a strong need of confirming our self-image, because it gives us peace of mind. We feel confident with what we are familiar with, even if it is distressing. Such vicious spirals we can call bad mind habits. The consciousness is injuriously inclined to habitual mind patterns. These patterns can be appropriate or on the contrary. Everything we experience may easily confirm and thereby fortify the problem, say one is apprehensive, foolish or of no value. The habitual mind pattern is gradually stored in the unconsciousness, and in time it becomes automatic, e.g. it rises to the surface independent of one`s own will. If the consciousness is suspended from a negative mind pattern, it can develop into a mental problem. Selfhypnosis can improve this, by breaking and altering the bad mind habits and connect to unused resources stored in the unconsciousness.
Because many of the central abilities that controls our behavior is implied in the unconsciousness, we usually act on what the unconsciousness “believes”. Since the unconsciouness frequently “believes” what it is told, we can rearrange it by evading the consciousness, and add additional positive ideas. The unconsciousness works in many ways as our servant and accomplish what the consciousness determines.

By employing selfhypnosis one acquires a key of insight. The ability to comprehend and accept the irrational part inside us is important to be living a wealthy life. This ability is called emotional or emotional intelligence, and can improve with selfhypnosis. Improved emotional intelligence increases the ability to socialize, and to be alone without feeling solitude. Hypnosis and selfhypnosis are both effective remedies to increase communication with our own mind as well as with other people
